History
I was born in Columbia South Carolina and lived in Charleston, SC before heading down to Hilton Head Island in 1972. Hilton Head was a lot different back then and was filled with a lot of business opportunity along with an abundant amount of rivers and places to explore. So it suited me just fine. My wife Deb and I lived in on the island until 1993 before deciding to relocate to her home town of Beaufort. We were looking for a business to start in Beaufort and decided to renovate and redevelop the Beaufort Inn and Restaurant which is located downtown on Port Republic Street. We developed and expanded the property into a AAA Four Diamond Inn and restaurant which we owned and operated for several years. After selling the Inn and taking some time off we both decided to do what we have always enjoyed which is real estate, remodeling and property improvement. We opened Southern Coast Realty which is our real estate agency and kept the construction division (Fielden Construction) in operation as an added service for our real estate clients. Our office is located on Lady’s Island at 120 Sea Island Parkway about a mile from downtown Beaufort
I spend a lot of time in Hilton Head and Bluffton in addition to Beaufort. Since I lived on Hilton Head and 19 years and now 20 years in Beaufort I feel like I have a good knowledge of both markets, their neighborhoods and the many waterways. .
Experience
- I am familiar and experienced with Beaufort County and Port Royal, Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beaufort City zoning laws, along with their development ordinances and subdivision requirements.
- I have worked with with OCRM, County and City offiicials regarding waterfront requirements including dock regulations, construction, permitting, and required set back codes along the waterways.
- I have dealt with several of the Architectural Review Boards in most districts..
- I have established a track record of being able to turn numerous dull outdated properties into showplaces. The properties range from simple small homes and properties to high end waterfront parcels and million dollar homes.

Hobbies
Give me an excuse to get out in the river or ocean and I am out the door. Fishing, exploring a new creek, river, or waterfront property, and checking the water depth for my listings for clients are my favorite things to do.
We have some of the most abundant marshes, islands and waterways along the East Coast. I make it my job to become familiar as possible with them.
