When I first moved to the Hilton Head Island back in the early 70's Sea Pines Plantation was the main residential development underway and was setting the standard that has made the Island one of the most beautiful and unique retirement/resort communities on the East coast. North and South Forest Beach were the first residential beachfront areas on the island and Coligny Plaza was considered the downtown of the island. Bluffton SC was all countryside until you reached the quaint riverfront town of Bluffton on the May River where you were guaranteed to get a speeding ticket if you went over 30 mph.
The private communities of Shipyard Plantation, Palmetto Dunes Plantation, Port Royal Plantation and Hilton Head Plantation were next in line after Sea Pines with homes and condos for sale on Hilton Head. These communities were the first to have oceanfront homes for sale on Hilton Head Island in a gated community. Hilton Head condos for sale outside of a private development were especially prevalent in the South Forest Beach area just outside of the ocean gate of Sea Pines and near Coligny Plaza. Palmetto Dunes was the next area to develop oceanfront condos on Hilton Head for sale which are in the gated Leamington area of Palmetto Dunes. Later, the Broad Creek side of the island became developed with the waterfront communities of Wexford, Long cove, Indigo Run, Shelter Cove and Windmill Harbor.
With Hilton Head homes for sale that were architecturally outstanding and communities that were developed within the natural landscape of the beautiful forest on the island, Hilton Head became a unique and vibrant island that was, and stil very much is, a favorite place to call your home or to enjoy a second home. Homes for sale in Bluffton SC on the waterfront started with Colleton River Plantation, Belfair Plantation, Berkeley Hall and Rose Hill Plantation. Now there are numerous communities in the Bluffton area including the renowned development of Palmetto Bluff Plantation with 20,000 acres on the May River.
Many of our communities are gated where you need to have an agent accompany you to view properties. Real estate agents on Hilton Head Island and in Bluffton are plentiful and most are part time. If you are looking for a buyer's agent who is full time, owns their own real estate company and has a long history on the island I would appreciate your considering using me. I would be glad to help and promise to look out for your best interests.
